Photo Diary: Dining in the Louvre.

After walking for hours in the Louvre with only croissants and pain au chocolat in our stomachs, we decided to stop for lunch at the restaurant in the Louvre itself.

My brother’s coffee.

My extremely amazing chocolat chaud. I was puzzled when the waiter handed me the bowl of whipped cream, I thought that was all there was to my drink. Then came the jar of piping hot viscous hot chocolate. That literally tastes like it was melted off a bar. The whipped cream is the kind whereby you can spoon it up and eat it like semi-frozen ice cream. The entire drink was very thick and went down my throat like liquid gold. So good.

My brother’s veal and rice. I didn’t take a photo of the menu, so I can’t remember their names exactly!
Initially we thought the rice was the veal, and that it was done like beef tartare, a raw beef dish. I was contemplating on ordering it when I saw this lad two tables down who ordered it, stared at it, took a nibble, stared at it as if willing it to cook, looked around sheepishly before asking for the bill, his plate almost untouched. That was enough to put me off the quest for it.

I ordered pan fried duck breast with vegetables. It was delish, the meat was so robust and flavorful. It was not fatty at all, had the consistency of steak yet with a crispy exterior. So delicious.
Prices are not cheap definitely, but reasonable for a restaurant in Paris and the Louvre! For the experience of sitting back, drinking a hot beverage in the winter, looking out of the window to see the tip of the glass pyramid, and thinking of how many millions of dollars worth of art you are sharing the roof with, Angelina is definitely worth a visit.
